Starting with Nothing in Mind

February 1, 2008

Second Life.  I read about the first person to make a million dollars in a virtual world.  And the million was actual real american dollars.  In conversation a friend asked me some esoteric existential blah blah about maybe second life is real and this is a made up life.  While I could see people getting fully engrossed in a  virtual world some day in the future, I still think there is a real world line people are unable to cross.  Ironically, it’s the things that hold us back in real life, that would stand in the way of a second life. A real second life.  It’s true that some people live as very different creatures in their make believe worlds.  Some are famous or rich or talented where in the real world they see themselves as unfairly limited perhaps.  But this is an illusion, both the success and the failure are just constructs of the person’s own self view perception of reality. Until otherwise disproved, it is always what you are committed to that shows up in your general life.  This of course does not refer to the constant variables outside your sphere of influence, but it could be argued by some that everything in your life is a result of your will.

Personally I’m not willing to go that far.  I would hope there is some universal checks and balances otherwise we would all soon be isolated into oblivion. One day when everything we want is within mind’s reach, we will be, encased in our own personal paradise.   Until then, our fears on either side of this life will dictate our results.  That lady made her first million in Second Life, and now she is working on her first million in real life. I’m going to bed to 3rd life to dream about my million.

Why You Lie

January 16, 2008

You lie about your age, your experience, your relationships, your past, your abilities, your beliefs.  Heck, the shorter list is what do you tell the truth about?  My question is…why do you lie?  Is there some real threat that makes lying the only viable option?  Is there more power, more opportunity in a lie than in the truth?  Isn’t it exhausting?

Have you ever asked yourself why you lie? Did you give an honest answer?  Do you lie  to everyone or only certain people? Have some of your lies become so familiar that you almost think they are true?  What have been some of the consequences of your lies?  What would be the consequences if people knew your worst lies?

How do you feel about people who lie?  Do you respect them or avoid them?  Could you stop lying if your life depended on it?  Is lying the real gateway drug?  Can you have an amazing relationship if you are lying?

How do you know people don’t know you are lying?  If you know someone is lying, over and over again, how do you treat them.  What is so scary about the truth?  What would your life be like if you stopped lying?  What if you diverted all the energy of all those lies into doing and being something great…

What if…it mattered?  You being honest, having intregity…what if it mattered?  Like it could cure cancer, feed the starving,  shine light in the dark scary places?  How do you know it doesn’t matter?  Are you always right? Are you willing to choose something other than lying?   It might matter.  To someone.  To everyone.  To me.  It matters.

Calling You Out

January 5, 2008

So we’re getting the site up on ‘mostlysomething.com’ soon enough. Until then you have to put up with the lovely ‘.wordpress.’ in the middle of the url. :/ Fret not though, we shall soon enough have it up on our domain and making things better. All we need though is your continued support for us and your undying love and patience as we make these posts.

Hopefully in making this site we’ll accomplish what we intend to: Allowing the blog readers to enjoy some material from two brothers that are just average in every single way. Maybe you can relate to that? Good, now you should feel more comfortable with reading our material… right?

Anyways… I’ve been looking for an awesome space MMORPG for ages now (preferably a free browser-based one), but it’s nearly impossible to find one of those. I remember Astronest… greatest space MMO ever – I mean seriously, fully customizable ships? How can you top that?

So I’ve been thinking of making one myself with a few friends. Only fear is that it costs money, takes up way too much time, and is so complicated. Of course, saying that almost makes it seem totally un-rewarding and just not worth doing, but, wrong! In the end, you have a nice community of MMORPGers who love the work you did and the satisfaction of designing something successful. Isn’t that just great? Sure is! In other words, I’m going to procrastinate to deep’s end until this MMO is even started. Buahaha!
