Call of Duty 4 Modern Combat

March 2, 2008

I bought, I beat it, I think it took 20 minutes.  Sure I had it on the novice level but come one.  I guess the game was designed more for multi player than campaign.  I mean, the story and game is awesome but why is it so short?   One of my favorite scenes was hogh in the sky dropping bombs and large bullets on “bad guys” on the ground.  There is a lot of sniper opportunity, close combat , and crowd scenes.  very fun.

I’ll up the level and play again, and tryout the online version.  I’m not much for online, because it’s dominated by teens or hard core gamers who play 8 hours a day. I can’t compete with that skill level.

Strategy Diplomacy

February 2, 2008

Millions of people, thousands of games.  Have you ever played diplomacy?  I did, at work.  A guy basically created the game by hand and we played and it was pretty cool.  Except that the premise of diplomacy in the game almost prerequisites backstabbing.  Fun for some, not so much for others.  I think it’s better to have superior numbers and us ethe threat of annihilation to keep peace ;)

So it turns out this game diplomacy is old and famous.  And the original version is annoying.  Odd map, slow growth, stodgy game I think.   That being said, I’ve learned some real life lessons in my first real game of diplomacy.   Be friendly, don’t say too much, say hello to everyone.   In my first game, I broke all 3 rules.  I don’t think I’m going to make it very long in the game, but I appreciate the reminders of real life diplomacy.  Smile, shake hands, be patient, ask questions.
